First Look at the all New 2022 Ducati XDiavel Nera Motorcycle (Video Review Included)

Ducati has rolled out the first of a series of new models for 2022. The first is based on the existing XDiavel which in collaboration with high-end brand Poltrona Frau’s expertise in leather.

Ducati offers up the base XDiavel with a few premium cosmetic touches and gives the the customer the option of being able to choose certain pieces to customize their bike. This means the XDiavel Nera will be produced in a limited edition numbered series of 500 units, all characterized by an elegant “black on black” livery and all topped by a unique, customizable saddle. The saddle is supplied by Poltrona and made of Pelle Frau leather, a special hide that undergoes an exhaustive 20 step process before it’s finished. 

Customers interested get to choose from five saddle colors and, upon purchase, also get a key ring and matching document holder as well. Each Nera carries a serial number engraved on the frame which indicates its place in the production run.

Besides the leather seat however, the XDiavel Nera is essentially the same bike as its stock brother, but it comes with a fairly robust set of features. First and foremost is the Testastretta DVT 1262 engine in Euro 5 configuration with an output peak of 152 hp at 9,500 rpm and a maximum torque of 92.9 pound-feet at 5,000 rpm. 

The steel trellis frame remains unchanged as well with a low seat height and overall dimensions. The XDiavel’s has agile handling and wears a 240mm (9.4 inches) wide rear tire. Ducati also brings an electronic suite, with a Bosch Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) for ABS Cornering, Ducati Traction Control (DTC), riding modes, cruise control, and Ducati Power Launch (DPL).  A two-level dashboard with a color TFT screen displays the status of Ducati’s electronic rider aids, which includes ride modes, cornering ABS, and cruise control.

Also standard on the base model is XDiavel’s adjustable footpegs, or you can further tweak the ergos via Ducati’s accessory catalog with options that best suit your needs, including handlebars of different shapes. The XDiavel Nera can already be ordered and will be available in dealerships starting from March 2022. MSRP is listed at $29,795.
